Setting standards in Budapest
This former military academy in Budapest has been transformed from a redundant architectural relic into one of the most desirable and environmentally intelligent business environments in Europe. The Officium buildings are part of a mixed development which includes retail, recreation and public services in this former Cadet Academy parkland. Developers, the SCD Group, paid exceptional attention to sustainability, and Officium is the first building in Hungary to achieve the BREEAM Excellent accreditation
Officium offers over 13,000 m2 of prestige office space in two glass wings which extend out from the original 19th century Cadet Academy. The office spaces are exceptionally light and spacious – offering an average height of 3.4 meters and access to a rooftop terrace overlooking mature parkland.
From the start the Officium project wanted to set new standards for environmental performance. Choosing Wavin Heating & Cooling solutions helped them to meet the highest standards for sustainability and deliver the agility needed in this highly configurable space.
The Officium development is the first ever Hungarian project to receive the BREEAM Excellent classification, and only the second initiative in Europe to do so.
“Choosing Wavin surface heating and cooling helped us meet the highest standards for sustainability and deliver the agility needed in this highly configurable space.”
The Wavin surface heating and cooling systems do not only provide easy and responsive temperature control with minimum environmental impact. The Wavin approach also eliminates the need for surface-mounted heating and cooling devices. This maximizes available space and ensures that the high aesthetic standards of the building are respected.
Although Officium is the first project to achieve this level of BREEAM certification, it is one of numerous large scale Wavin heating and cooling implementations delivered in Hungary to date.
