New Eyüp Municipality and Service Building
In 2012, local municipalities began to gather their divisions in different locations under single roof in order to give services to citizens more effectively and more quickly. In 2013, new ones were opened and were added to these municipalities. One of these is the new Eyüp Municipality and Service Building.
With 5 blocks and 2500 m2 roof area, the new building has a high Daily population circulation. For a building like this, effective and quick roof drainage is a real issue. Initially, rain drainage system was designed as classical system. But later in construction phases, engineers realized that it is not the right solution.
In the initial design for rain drainage, gravity system has chosen with 4 downpipes in every 5 blocks. Chosen material for the pipe system was copper and for a total of 20 downpipes it cost a lot of money for the constructor.
Engineers of the construction company claimed that system’s cost is now more accurate with their budget. They liked the idea of using a modern solution with less money.Proje Müdürü
With Wavin QuickStream siphonic rain drainage system, engineers designed one downpipe for every block. That reduced the total pipe length. On the roof, siphonic vacuum effect starts with stainless steel metal outlets. Rain water is transported via collector horizontal pipes and via downpipes to the basement where the pipes discharge rain water to the manholes. So a highly effective – less pipe with a high drainage performance – was obtained.
The main reason for choosing the siphonic system was it cost advantage comparing to the classical system. Engineers of the construction company claimed that system’s cost is now more accurate with thier budget. They liked the idea of using a modern solution with less money.
Primary challenge on the site during installation was intersections of siphonic pipes with other mechanical systems. Wavin engineers gave all they can to solve these issues by redesign the system according to other mechanical systems.
