EAG Iron Industry Factory
EAG Steel Plant has located on Anadolu Organized Industrial Zone which is founded in 4100 hectares of new industrial zones in Temelli Malıköy Region in Ankara. The factory, which has administrative offices, is also in an important section of Organized Industrial Zone. In the factory in which products of steel and iron will be manufactured, both reliable and economic rain water drainage has been provided by Wavin systems.
In EAG Steel Factory, located in newly-established Anadolu Organized Industrial Zone, detailed studies have been applied about siphonic rain water drainage system. The quest for a safer and more economical system led to changing the system of the factory solved as conventional rain water system and infrastructure system on the project. The factory has a total of 12.550 m2 roof area, which consists of five halls parallel to each other. In this project, system has been chosen via comparing siphonic system’s economic advantages to necessity of infrastructure system for conventional rain water system.
Landing to floor with straight pipes on the side of columns in factory had been designed for conventional system. These landings would have connected to main drainage line via the infrastructure collection lines from factory inside to outside and connect to collection lines around the factory. This method had a high cost because of more excavations and investment of trench and infrastructure. The advantages of the system transition had been accepted by the site’s mechanical authorities for a safer and more economical system.

After the reviews and calculations with Wavin design team, more economic rain water drainage system has been provided for factory through siphonic system. If conventional system would have been used, 56 downpipes and 56 manholes would have to be inside of factory. 600 meters infrastructure would have to be installed inside of factory to connect manholes to each other. Additionally, 30 manholes and 400 meters infrastructure trenches would have been used outside of the factory. When siphonic system was preferred, safer and more economic system has been installed with 42 siphonic outlets, 7 manholes just outside of factory and 100 meters infrastructure investment.
Because there is no downpipes in the factory; dangers such as damage of rain water pipe during operation and flood of rain water inside of factory, have been minimized. With the initially designed classical system, problems like infrastructure collapse and blockage of manholes could be occured in the future. Wavin engineers moved all the manholes and infrastructure pipes outside by siphonic system. That’s cleared out all the risks and made the rain drainage system safer.
440L/s rain water will be discharged via siphonic rain water system. Firstly rain water will be drained outside of factory to the plastic manholes and corrugated pipe system.
