Dear Customers, Partners, Colleagues, old and new,

2018 is a big year for Wavin Ireland and not just because we plan to strengthen and grow our market-leading position on the island, but because we’re 60 years manufacturing in Ireland and that in itself is worth a few words to mark the occasion.

60 years in business is a major milestone and a landmark worth noting and spending some time to celebrate. Even though I’m 10 years in the business, I’m still a relative newcomer in this industry compared to some of my colleagues and predecessors in Wavin who have passed on the baton. If I cast my mind back to 2008 when I joined, we were 50 years old but the landscape then was very different as Ireland and the industry were plummeting into the abyss of what was to be the worst recession in modern history. Thankfully we survived it but not without significant restructuring and cost reduction which many of you experienced in your businesses. The market today is much improved and the sun is once again shining on our industry which is at the very core of the fabric of Ireland. We can be forgiven therefore for not celebrating our 50th given the timing, but not our 60th.

The lessons I learnt from that period were to truly value our customers, and their businesses, and the relationships I’ve built up with many of you through the years. Ours really is a people business with relationships being key to enabling the transactional side of buying and selling our range of products. When I think about people in Wavin, my thoughts go immediately to people like Joe Harlin, our Business Development Manager, who is due to retire this year after 46 amazing years’ service. Internal people like Noel Dunne in Planning who has a similar accolade and Fergal McGeough, our Site Operations Manager, who is only a nipper with 37 years’ service.

New blood is vital to any business and thankfully there has been a reinvestment in people in recent years which many of you have seen though the Field Sales Team but also internally right across the business. We also plan to reshape our business and better position us for the future with investment in the site which we are presently finalising, which will give you the added assurance and reliability that Wavin is the right business partner for you going forward.

Back to 2018 and our 60th: we plan to mark the occasion with promotions and some events which I’d ask you to join with us in our celebrations.

We'd like to share with you some of our long heritage and history. I encourage you to read more of Wavin Ireland history and our contribution to Irish life over the years.

Thank you all for your valued support, contribution and custom which is the cornerstone of our success and I hope our partnership together continues to grow and develop into the future.

Regards,
