Major refurbishment of Brussels’ fifth largest building, the Astro Tower, is now complete

The Astro Tower is the fifth largest building in Brussels. At 107 meters high, it has 34 floors and 35,000 m² of office space. The tower underwent a complete transformation and was given a new façade in blue reflective glass. Even the interior was gutted. All the pipes for hot & cold water supply and drainage were all replaced with select products from Wavin’s range of piping solutions.

When the bank developed its new headquarters within Budapest’s 75,000 m2 TriGranit Millennium City Center project, they were keen to achieve LEED gold certification. This would be a first for Hungary. Wavin would make a critical contribution with its surface heating and cooling systems, enabling the bank to reduce overall energy consumption by 15%.

The Officium buildings are part of a mixed development which includes retail, recreation and public services in this former Cadet Academy parkland. Developers, the SCD Group, paid exceptional attention to sustainability, and Officium is the first building in Hungary to achieve the BREEAM Excellent accreditation.
